Commissioning and collaborating on furniture and bespoke items for projects is a huge highlight for us and Etsy is a wonderful resource for finding these talented artisans, with many located right here in the tri-state area. While I admit to being a late comer to the vast world of antiques and hand-mades that is Etsy, having had so many great experiences working with their vendors has inspired me to share and give a shout-out to them in hopes that others will enjoy these great resources. Below I’ve listed some of my faves by category, most we’ve used and a few left on our wish list.

ARTWORK:

1. A client introduced me to this Brooklyn-based artist and so glad she did! Laura so brilliantly captures cacti and succulents in an otherworldly style and find her color palettes to be so uplifting and harmonious. We recently commissioned an oversized print from her which was even more stunning in person. Find more of her works here.

2. We love love love Adam’s Ale Art Prints with their selection of close to 500 Haeckel and Audubon prints and diagrams of everything from underwater species, flora, birds and other animals. Easy to frame and most under $10, its our go-to for interesting prints that are easy to use  anywhere – a grouping in a hallway or entry to a single with image with gold frame in a powder room. Take a peak at their vast collection here.

3. Martine of The Story of Vintage based in Melbourne, Australia could not be sweeter nor her collection of original vintage prints be more fun to comb through. We’ve used many of her archives for children’s rooms whereas they’ve always shipped quickly and the perfect anecdote to the playful rooms.

FURNITURE:

1. Charlene and her partner design these fantastic, whimsical tables with colorful interiors like the one below. The tables are fully customizable whereas you choose the size, wood stain and interior color. We have just custom ordered a walnut side table with a Hermes orange interior for a client’s wonderfully collected, eclectic living room. Find more of their lovely hand made furniture pcs here.

2. For this entry console below we used acrylic in an extra thick 2″ depth which came out even more lovely in person. I just learned Highland Acrylics who designs and builds almost anything you can imagine out of this translucent loveliness has left Etsy so please visit their website here to see what they are capable of.

3. After scouring 1st Dibs for a pair of mid-century chairs to fit just right in a renovated Butler’s Pantry, in deperation I took a stab at Etsy. To my amazement there were quite a few vendors who specialize in antiques, whereas the prices seem far better then the more traditional sites/auctions. We scored these beauties, original leather Eames lounge chairs, here.

LIGHTING:

1. Bespoke lighting has come to be one of my favorite items to source for projects with so many mid-century takes on hard to find classics now available. Worley’s Lighting is no exception and creates beautiful while functional fixtures for both table and wall. Find more of their designs here.

TABLEWARE & POTTERY:

2. Made in Germany, these mini bento boxes can be used for anything from serving containers for tapas with guests, to packing snacks for yourself (or your kids) to bring along for your busy day. 2. I’m equally in love with every basket Berber Baskets has on their site. Another accessory that could add interest while being practical to any room or space. We recently used a collection of these placing them on a wine cabinet in a dining room to hold everything from school supplies and homework to misc items to hide from view. Check them out here and prepare to be inspired.

FOR THE CHILDREN:

1. While searching for woven baskets for a project, we stumbled on Ashraf Conrad‘s shop. While they do have a variety of baskets from Uganda, they also have the most lovely sewn animals and this sweet mobile.

2. If you have kids, you have toys, and toys need a great home… We use this type of basket for all our clients who have little ones. Boiled wool baskets in a variety of colors and sizes are our go-to and while these are poly, they do the trick and can be done in custom sizes (and a variety of colors!) so you just can’t go wrong… Find them and more fun felt items here.

il_570xn-930346625_gulo3. 9th Cycle Studios has lovely, nature-themed original photography which they offer as prints or printed on clocks, pillows and other accessories. We used this clock in a children’s mod playroom where it was the perfect accessory to ground the space.
