It was only a matter of time…

That’s it, I feel it, everything on this blog is about to turn French…! As some of you may know, I am a self-proclaimed Francophile and love so much of the french way of life, with a huge emphasis on fashion and design (!!). I’ve loved it since my first design history course starting with Louis XIV era, but actually way before then. At around 20 years old, someone very dear to me introduced me (me still a late bloomer/small town-girl then) to French design, showing me countless coffee table books featuring french interiors, from grand neoclassical gilt & crown molding-filled spaces to chateaus throughout the vast French countryside, to more modern, art and light-infused spaces. They also encouraged me to visit Paris for myself, which I soon did, 3 times in 3 years (Yippy!) and being there/the feelings I felt are some of the happiest times of my life (generally just walking the streets looking at the architectural details, shop windows, street style and everything in between).

So it was only a matter of time that I’d get caught up in this love affair and focus on French design again… : )

I was listening to the Billy Holiday station on Spotify this AM and the most fabulous jazzy song came on, which I found was from the CD: Hotel Costes V.11. (CD Cover above). Im wondering if every CD volume of the Hotel Costes is as good as this one… Im guessing Yes! This got me thinking of the Hotel Costes itself, set in the heart of Paris, on Rue Saint-Honoré in the 1st arrondissement (after hearing the buzz about it the last few years). Described as Paris’s most talked about hotel, which turns into a dance club at night, is as much praised for its decor, as its apparently incomparable drinks and nightlife scene. Th decorated in a riot of 19th century velvety opulence designed by Jacques Garcia (a favorite designer of mine) with nothing spared as far as details and grandeur.

Hotel_Costes_Restaurant 1Count me in for dinner!! I truly love everything about this dining room, from the heavy damask wall coverings on the back wall, the beautiful classical nude paintings on far right wall, the bookcases… I’d imagine it to be a truly  unforgettable dinner in this candlelit setting…

Please do share in comments if you’ve been to the hotel to stay, or just for a drink. -OR- if you know of other note-worthy hotels in Paris, I’d love to hear about them too!
